Soundskills BROKEN MIC night! - 09/02/2012
Want to see what the Soundskills students get up? Well here as part of a special performance project is an invite penned by one of the students Dellen Boothby: "Soundskills performance A.K.A Is this Rockin' out with the Band or What? Another year, and another Soundskills ensemble ready to grace the stage for your listening pleasure. After months of learning about constructing and delivering musical workshops, the time has come to put the theory into action and design a performance from scratch including arrangements, cover versions and original songs which we 3 bands of PMZ have put together during 12 dramatic hours - asking ourselves questions like which lead goes where? who's playing the drums? and what am i doing? Could this be the sound of angels caressing your shell-likes or a calamitous cacophony of crackens? Come and join us in our brief yet spirited creation with trepidatious expection and an open mind!" And you can see Dellen and the crew on Thurs 9 Feb at Plymouth Music Zone from 6.30pm onwards...

Girl Rock Therapy Events - for girls who rock! - 18/02/2012
Plymouth Music Zone is holding two rock development events using inspiring female singer songwriters to encourage other young girls to break into the music industry. It's well known the music industry is male dominated so the day long 'Girl Rock Therapy' workshops will give top tips from women who have developed through Plymouth Music Zone and become part of the music scene locally and nationally. Girls aged between 11-18 years old are being invited to come along and ask questions and also take part in music making sessions. The first day is on Saturday 26 November from 10am-4pm with the second day on Saturday 18 February next year. Both events are free and take place at Plymouth Music Zone thanks to funding from Plymouth City Council's Targeted Youth Fund. Places are limited so please give us a call on 01752 213690 to book asap. Check out the Girl Rock Therapy event flyer in the DOWNLOADS section of our website for more details.
