Training
People like what PMZ does so much the demand often exceeds supply. So, in order to satisfy this increasingly ravenous appetite, we need to do two things:
- recruit and help train more Music Leaders and
- help share our skills and expertise with those people already working within schools and community settings
Luckily, there's plenty on offer - both for the aspiring and the perspiring! Help is there for those musicians who want to become Music Leaders and tips are bountiful for all those hard working music teachers and other professionals who've broken into one too many sweats trying to think up new ideas to help grab children and young people's attention.

FOR MUSIC LEADERS
If you have any doubts about whether it's possible to develop a successful career in community music...we say it most definitely is. But, although we’re dedicated to training up Music Leaders, we don’t just take anyone…
WHY NOT? We like to train our Music Leaders in the PMZ style because we're only as good as the Music Leaders we work with. The professional reputation and loyalty we've built up over the years means everything to us. We're trusted. And the PMZ name is about quality and innovation as well as fun and inspiration...
SO WHAT DO WE WANT? At the heart of everything we do is a special, not-so-secret ingredient – we only use Music Leaders who believe in the power of what they do, those musicians who feel they can help people use music in their lives to move forward and make a difference. Whatever your background, to us it’s not about notes on a page - it’s about learning to use music to make connections that inspire young people – even in some of the most challenging environments.

So, have you got what it takes? Do you want to learn how?

Plymouth Music Zone can also offer INSET training to schools interested in learning practical and accessible musical skills directly transferable to the classroom setting and delivery of the curriculum.
PMZ music leaders are experienced facilitators who offer training to the highest professional standards. Sessions can be tailored to the needs of the school and could include:
- Whole school sessions, excellent for team-building and confidence raising, ensuring all staff are working to a similar approach and understanding of music.
- Training sessions for smaller groups who may be working with a particular aspect of the curriculum, such as percussion, songwriting, music technology or cross-curricular themes such as music and history, music and geography, for example.
- Ongoing programme of INSET support to advise teachers on curriculum delivery and to support an ongoing programme of work.
Feel free to call us and discuss your needs - the training we offer really could make a difference...
