Plymouth Music Zone is passionate about protecting the wellbeing of all its participants as well as its own team who we care about deeply.  Like so many others, we are committed to working with our many partner organisations to do the right thing in the current situation in response to the deepening concerns around COVID-19.

As a charity that mostly works with vulnerable older people and those with underlying health conditions, we have now taken the decision to cancel all Plymouth Music Zone music sessions for the next month.

This will take effect from Tues 17 March until the end of the Easter Holidays on Tues 14 April when we will review the situation again.

The PMZ building will be closed during this time and all PMZ staff who can will be working remotely from home. This will ensure everyone in the team can maintain their own welfare while continuing to work hard to minimise any disruption to the future work of the charity. We are keen to prevent any potentially negative impact of the coronavirus on small arts organisations like ourselves. As you can imagine, support for the arts sector throughout the coming months will be key.

We would like to thank those funders who fully support our commitment to ensuring no sessional Music Leaders will be financially adversely affected by this shutdown.  We remain committed to paying all our staff and offering as much reassurance as we can as the situation unfolds. We also very much appreciate the ongoing support from our wider PMZ community.

We already work with many people who can so often feel isolated. We want to do all we can to assure you we are very much still here – to listen and to try and keep strengthening the kindness and creativity of this wonderful community that we so value with you all. We always put people first.

Stay well and do keep in touch via our social media. Let’s look after each other and keep finding ways to sing our own songs until we can all sing together once again soon.

Much love, music and immense thanks for your support during this time.

The Plymouth Music Zone team.
