Huge welcome to the latest Trustee to join Plymouth Music Zone who brings a wealth of experience in education and safeguarding to further support our work across the city. Liz Hill is a retired Head Teacher and passionate advocate for music and creativity as well as an inspiring champion for compassion and wellbeing.

Liz Hill says,

“I know how enjoyable and beneficial music is for all ages and how musical experiences can bring so much joy and confidence to every child but especially to those who have experienced trauma. I had the pleasure of working directly with Plymouth Music Zone for many years as a Head Teacher in a local Infant School in Plymouth and saw first hand the power and impact of PMZ’s approach and how much the children responded. Just think what a happy place Plymouth could be if everybody could have a little PMZ magic!”

Liz says she is taking full advantage of her recent retirement and we feel honoured she’s giving so much of her time to PMZ as part of that. In between looking after her granddaughter she says she’s also throwing herself into various retirement hobbies ranging from gardening, sailing, learning German everyday – and beekeeping!

PMZ’s Chief Executive, Debbie Geraghty, says she’s delighted to have Liz as part of the team,

“Not only does Liz bring her immense respected professional background in education to the table but she also brings the most infectious joy with her too. Her compassionate approach to the world is a wonderful and grounding touchstone to have at times like these. She is one of those people who really teaches us a thing or two about what really matters in life. And she really understands the power of music & creativity in keeping children and communities healthy and happy.”
